2019 Graduation Dates/Info (updated 5/2)

Taco Bell Arena has confirmed the availability for this year's graduation dates. High school graduation dates and times are as follows:

Saturday, May 25

Mountain View High School - 11 AM
Renaissance High School - 3 PM
Rocky Mountain High School - 7 pm

A GRADUATION MESSAGE

Graduation is the single event that marks the culmination of thirteen years of academic achievement. This annual tradition serves as a celebration to honor the graduate.

The ceremony itself is a respectable and dignified event. It gives parents the opportunity to share in the achievement of their sons and daughters and allows students to celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends. The presentation of the diplomas is the “heart” of the commencement exercises. During this presentation, the reality of transitioning from one part of life to the next is made apparent to the graduates and the witnesses at the ceremony. A diploma represents the hard work and effort put forth by the students, parents, and teachers. In conclusion, this much-respected tradition only works best if students treat it with the reverence that graduation deserves.

 

GRADUATION CEREMONY 2019

Congratulations to our 2019 graduates! Graduation is a very special event for us all. The following guidelines outline a few of the traditions and expectations that accompany this ceremony that culminate the years of achievement in high school. Graduation will be held at Taco Bell Arena-Boise State University May 25th at 7 PM. Seniors need to arrive at the auxiliary gym no later than 5:30PM to start lining up. (North East Entrance #3)

 

PARTICIPATION AT GRADUATION

Receiving a diploma at the graduation ceremony is not a requirement but a privilege. Students not wanting to participate in the ceremony may receive their diploma after graduation by contacting Assistant Principal, Matt Smith, prior to the last day of school.

 

PRACTICE: May 24th (1:00pm) @RMHS Main Gym

PRACTICE IS MANDATORY!! All seniors must be in attendance at graduation practice. With students’ cooperation, the practice should last no longer than two hours.

IF FOR ANY REASON A SENIOR DOES NOT ATTEND OR LEAVES GRADUATION PRACTICE THEY WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE GRADUATION CEREMONY.

 

HANDICAPPED ENTRANCES

The handicapped entrances to the Pavilion are through Gates 1 and 2.

 

DRESS EXPECTATIONS

We want our students to dress appropriately for the formal graduation ceremony that exemplifies the character of the senior class, their parents, and our school. We recommend that our students wear professional attire appropriate for the occasion. Don’t forget to iron your gowns using low to medium settings. We ask that you not wear your gowns into the auxiliary gym before the ceremony but carry them in so they are not wrinkled for the ceremony. No adornment of robes or caps will be permitted including: leis, service organization stoles, or personal artifacts.

 

PICTURES

During graduation, Dorian Studio will be taking several photographs:

1) A group shot during the pledge of allegiance

2) An individual portrait of your child holding a diploma in front of the American and Idaho flags

3) A final picture as they receive their diploma on stage.

At graduation practice, your student will receive an order form with all of these options clearly marked. Both CD’s with copy write release and pictures may be ordered. Your graduate may bring the order form to graduation for collection or you may mail it directly to Dorian Studios, 4212 W Sunset Blvd, Spokane, WA 99224. Extra envelopes will also be available at graduation.

All pictures come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are unsatisfied for any reason, return the package to Dorian Studio within 14 days and they will be happy to refund your money.

Because of these special picture opportunities we ask that:

Parents should not be on the main floor to take pictures. Parents may take individual pictures from their seats and in the auxiliary gym or outside following the recessional ceremony.
Graduates should not bring any type of camera into the ceremony. This includes cell phone.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS

Please do not bring any supplemental materials into the ceremony. This includes, but is not limited to the following: balls, balloons, cell phones, signs, noisemakers, flower leis, sunglasses, chains, or any other materials or apparel that might detract from the ceremony and the honor bestowed on each graduating student. Please refrain from lettering on top of graduation caps. The only items permitted are honor cords and National Honor Society stoles.

***** If a student needs to be escorted out during the ceremony because of improper conduct, it detracts from the dignity of the graduation ceremony.*****

 

DIPLOMAS

Diploma covers will be presented during the graduation ceremony. The actual diploma insert will be handed out after the graduation ceremony in the auxiliary gym. Those students who have fines will not receive their diploma.

Seniors, your graduation announcements, caps, and gowns will be handed out on Senior Project Day, by Jostens. If you owe a balance, it must be paid in full before you can pick up your order. The Jostens representatives will accept payment that day. You cannot pick up your order until after you have presented your Senior Project.

 

CLASS RANKING

The class ranking for graduating seniors will be determined using the following formula:

Un-weighted GPA + # of AP classes x .02 = class ranking GPA

 

RECOGNITION OF HONOR STUDENTS

Commencing with the graduating class of 2014, honor students will be those who meet the following GPA requirements on their transcripts for any class for which high school credits were earned. AP courses are graded on a 5-point scale (includes Calculus II). Current semester grades will be pulled on May 1st, 2019 and factored into the transcript GPA to determine appropriate honor level.

Highest Honors:4.1-5.0 One Gold/one Purple cord

High Honors:3.77-4.099 Two Gold cords

Honors:3.5-3.7699Two Purple cords

 

SELECTION OF VALEDICTORIANS

Commencing with the graduating class of 2009, no valedictorians will be chosen; students will be honored with Highest Honors, High Honors or Honors, as indicated above.

For 2009 and beyond, two (2) students from the top ten percent (10%) of the graduating class will be asked to deliver addresses during the graduation exercise. The graduating class will select the two representatives by vote with administrative approval. Seniors will vote the first week in May.

 

ATTENDANCE, TARDIES & GRADES

The end of the year is rapidly approaching. Make sure you are in good standing with attendance & tardies. Know where you are with your grades; check PowerSchool on a regular basis.

 

Senior Graduation Party

Grad Night for the Class of 2019 will be held on Tuesday May 21st from 11PM-4AM at Wahooz. Tickets will be sold outside by the Skywalk during lunch every Thursday and Friday starting the first week of May. 

 

Here are the dates & prices:

May 2nd, 3rd, 9th, and 10th - tickets are $65

May 16th, 17th, and MONDAY the 20th - tickets are $70

At the door - tickets are $80

We accept cash, checks made out to Hallie Pedersen, or through Venmo. You must come to the table at lunch to confirm your name for the ticket. 

 

With your ticket you will get access to all attractions inside and outside Wahooz for the whole night such as bowling, ropes course, mini golf, go-karts, laser tag & maze, bumper boats, the list goes on and on! Also included is an all-you-can eat pizza and salad buffet from 11PM-12AM, free snacks, and soda all night! We will be holding a raffle all night and have a hypnotist show at the end!
