Dear Parents,

Every student has completed their book labels for their quilt square, so I will be working on putting the rest of it together at home.  I am excited to see how it turns out.  I love the idea of a child getting book ideas from a quilt on their bed.

We are about to finish our latest novel, Wonder.  We have had great conversations about how we should and shouldn't treat each other (and especially people who look different from us) at school and in public.  Our next novel will be The Watsons Go to Birmingham, 1963.  We will be discussing the Civil Rights movement as we read that book.

We just finished our We the People history unit, but we are still working on our Rights Essays.  We will be presenting them in Flipgrid and sharing them with parents since we can't do an in-person presentation this year.  My goal is to have those ready before Spring Break.

We will be starting our unit on Matter.  Students will be experimenting with different substances.  Don't be surprised if they try some experiments in your kitchen. :)

In math, we are moving from multiplication of fractions to division of fractions.  Asking students questions about fractions at home would be a great support.  (What is half of 10?)

I love working with your children.  I hope you all are staying healthy and happy.  Have a great week!
