Service Day is one of the events, which sets IFAA apart from other schools and supports our mission of, “Building lives through artistic, academic and civic excellence.” Service Day is THURSDAY, MAY 2nd. Download the Permission slip form (PDF).
During Service Day students will participate in a morning assembly and breakout activities based around the concept of service and this year’s theme: UNITY. After these activities, students will depart via bus in mixed grade groups of 25, under the supervision of teachers, to one of our partner organizations to offer service to the community. Students’ typical service involves working outdoors at a local park under the guidance of an IFAA staff member and an employee of the organization (for example, Boise Parks and Recreation). After working about 2-2.5 hours, students will return to IFAA for a BBQ lunch, student musical performances and various outdoor teambuilding activities.
We are pleased to continue to partner with:
Idaho Botanical Garden
Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge
Eagle Parks and Rec (Eagle Sports Complex)
Boise Rescue Mission (Donation Center)
Idaho State Parks (Eagle Island State Park)
Rotary Clubs of the Treasure Valley (Wetland Peace Preserve at Willow Lane Athletic Complex)
Nampa Parks and Recreation
The Daughters of the American Revolution in conjunction with Boise Parks and Recreation (Morris Hill Cemetery)
Please be sure your student has:
Clothes suitable for working outdoors
Close toed shoes suitable for working outdoors
Water/water bottle
Sunscreen
Hat
Gloves
A snack (if needed)
If you would like to volunteer on Service Day with your student, please contact Brendan Earle. Furthermore, please direct all questions and concerns to Brendan Earle: earle.brendan@westada.org.
