We are finishing up our tri-fold and making changes to our prints, including changing the size of the arms so they would fit in the arm slot. We also made our 3D model taller. With a teammate at home, we had trouble getting the script for her.

March 10, 2022
We worked on our tri-fold and mapped out where the pictures and stickers were going to be placed. Mercedes finished our newest design on Tinkerad. Emma glued down our pictures and two of our teammates were gone, so we didn't get as much work as we wanted. During recess, we worked on putting down stickers and gluing. Our 6th print finished and we removed the supports. For this print we made it black because we thought it was going to be our last print.

March 9, 2022
Today we sketched out a design for our tri-fold. Next, Emmery started our script so it would be better for the real competition. We started our tri-fold board and finished the header.

Team 2
Today we are working on our latest model on Tinkercad. We are adding more buttons for the family mode and a button for the hands. We want some of us to be understudies just to make sure that if someone can't be there someone else knows their part. We are making a tri-fold board to hold information on the pictures that we won't take for the competition. We decided that we wanted a PowerPoint for our presentation and we didn't want to keep pressing the arrow button on the computer. So we will be putting it in a loop.

Team 1
Today we show the teachers. We have a PowerPoint so we can present it to the judges. We designed our design in tinkercad and printed it in flashprint. We are doing very well and hopefully our team will win.
Team 2
Today we worked on our presentation for our competition and edited and modified our robot for the third charging stand by adding a label to our charging stand and adding a logo to it. Our robots, and we also add sensors to our robots and charging stands. We worked on finishing details for our school tournament against Team 1. Emmery wrote our script and we also made papers to label our designs. We didn't get much time to practice our scripts so we ended up just reading off our scripts.

Team 1
Cleaning up our prints.
Team 2
On Friday, we worked primarily on a design change for our robot. Mainly to change it so that it doesn't look like a toy and more of a robot. To do that, we're adding sensors to the leg that we're making wider so our robot will get up and its leg won't break. We also added buttons and labels to the charging stand.

Team 1
Today we got our first draft and started to clip the excess supports on our wheels and first design. We are half way through our final design and now we need to put everything together and then we are done.
Team 2
Today, some of our team started building in tinkercad without us, so we will be getting into that later. We are still working on our script and 3D print design. They added things to the design that we were not sure they did. Also, as you can see in the picture on the right, the building didn't print right but that's just part of the process. the reason that it broke is because it wasn't fully on the platform.

March 2nd, 2022
Team 1
We printed our prototype wheels and now we know that our wheels work so now we are going to print the second to final wheels for our design.
Team 2
Today we are improving our 3D model because we need to add a screen on the face. It was our first design, so there were a lot of things to change and remove from our design. One of the things that we added was a screen and sensors.

March 1st, 2022
Team 2
Today we are scripting for our presentation and practicing what we are going to present. We are also making another improved Tinkercad model of our robot because the film was not strong enough to hold the robot to the charging station and broke. We are also changing eyes to a computer screen to show workout programs and the astronauts ' families.
Team 1
Today we were working on finishing our tinkercad model and getting it printed.

Feb. 28th, 2022
Team 2
We are trying to fix our tinkercad design because we weren't sure that all the details were correct. We were also finishing our cardboard design by putting on the magnets and finishing another layer of white paint. On Tinkercad, we are making a new design and making improvements. We used a string as the charging cord but we needed to change it because the numbers were not in our design. We drew some more blueprints for new upgrades. One of the upgrades was adding a screen.
Team 1
We are working on the design for the 3D model while making the other cardboard model at the same time.

Feb. 24th, 2022
Team 2
are mainly trying to finish our prototype. We are finishing painting and hot gluing. The body was the hardest to make and the head. We also printed our first version of the robot.

Feb. 23rd, 2022
Team 2
Lunch time and recess work- What we did during lunch and recess is, we built the legs, arms and body. We hot glued everything together and for the last couple minutes of time we painted it and waited for it to dry. Today we are working on the second layer of white paint. We are deciding to change the charger. We also 3D print our design on tinker cad and then be working from there.

Feb. 22st, 2022
Team 1
Today we finished looking at the reference material and started on our cardboard prototype.
Team 2
We looked at Mersades 3d design that she made in Tinkerkad. After that, we started building the prototype out of cardboard. We got most of it cut out and we painted it too.

Feb. 15th, 2022
Now that our two teams are set we are working to bring all of our ideas together so that we can begin our blueprints for what we want to design and build. Absences continue to be a constraint to deal with for us. Today we talked about viability again and how to create our blueprints. We are going to do a side view and top down view and talk as a team about what parts of our builds will be made from cardboard and what pieces will be 3D printed. We are practicing our communication and collaboration skills a lot today with one team. We are struggling to come to an agreement on the purpose of our robot we want to design and its impact on improving the quality of life in space for the explorers.

Feb. 8th, 2022
We began by talking about the possible validity of a project idea and how we could use criteria and constraints to help us with our brainstorming. As we talked we realized that we wanted to rearrange our groups into 2 groups. One for moon rocks and one for life in space. We all started writing our ideas for the criteria and constraints for our topics before we got back to work on our brainstorming posters. In between after-school meetings we also got together during STEM class to do more research for our teams.

Feb. 1st, 2022
We reviewed the IDX challenge options, rubric and a little bit about what the previous team experienced back in 2019 and watched a short video about 3D printing. We took some time to brainstorm some ideas and then broke up into teams. When we started each of our teams wanted to do a different problem. One group wanted to do Life in Space, another Moon Rocks & Dust and the last group wanted to do Space Junk. We knew that we were going to compete against each other for the teachers and principal to decide which team would represent BMSA at the IDX Challenge.
