Davidson, Erin
Mrs. Erin Davidson

I am Erin Davidson the Rocky Mountain High School Theater Teacher and the Drama Department's Head Coach. A few years back I earned the nickname "Davey" from a fun student, Adam McCoy, and the name has stuck. Justin Lewis also graciously gave me the nickname of "Daves", but only he is allowed to call me that. I grew up in Coeur d'Alene where I attended Lake City High School, home of the mighty Timberwolves where "The strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack." I performed in two musicals at Lake City playing "Rizzo" in Grease and one of Reno's Angels in Anything Goes.
I attended North Idaho College for two years which is where I fell in love with the Theater world and all of it's opportunities. I performed in many main stage productions, working with wonderful directors like Tim Rarick and Joe Jacoby and a solid technical crew with favorites like Judy and Michael McGivney, and "Goose." After completing my core requirements I transfered to Boise State University with aid and encouragement from Joe Jacoby.
I was quickly welcomed by the program and the Department Chair, Richard Klautch. Majoring in Theater with an Emphasis in Secondary Education and a Minor in Music I felt like I had found the perfect place for me.
I performed in two Boise State musicals, playing "The Witch" in Into the Woods and "Antonia" in The Man of Lamancha. I also performed in the beautiful Opera, Gianni Schicci as "La Ciesca." Being a Theater Major with an Emphasis in Secondary Education calls for an understanding of many jobs, such as stage management, set design and construction, costume design, prop design and construction, and lighting design and focus. I directed various one acts and stage managed short performances for the Student Showcase productions at the end of each semester. I worked at the Morrison Center loading in and loading out two professional touring shows. I helped hang and focus lighting for most of the main stage productions. I also designed and created hair and makeup for one production and designed and created props for an all female cast of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure. All while taking on elected positions in the Theater Major's Association.
During my Senior year in the BSU theater program I had the amazing opportunity to design the original set for the debut production of In the Sawtooths by Boise State Alumnus Dano Madden under the direction of the brilliant Michael Baltzell, Technical Director for the Boise State Theatre Department and my mentor through the design process. The production was nominated to participate in the American College Theatre Festival for the northwest region and from there, received an invitation to the nationally recognized Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival that takes place in Washington DC every spring. There I received a Merit Award for my design work on the set.
After college I married my college sweetheart Ben, a Boise native, who graduated with a degree in Music from BSU and participated in the Thundering Herd Marching Band. We have since had 3 daughters, Violet, June, and Macy who continue to impress us every day with their intelligence and creativity. We hope to create a happy, safe, and encouraging environment for our girls as they grow.
As for Rocky Mountain, my goal as a teacher is to instill a sense of professionalism in my students as I work with them in the classroom and out of the classroom. It is important for me to be able to help the students understand the lessons they can learn in the theatre and how to project those lessons onto a professional career in any field. I hope to show my students that hard work can create an amazing product that can be useful to all who partake. I strive to give students the confidence they need to be able to take critiques, give critiques, and build a set of skills that will help them be successful in college and beyond.
Theatre and teaching has proven to be a fantastic career for me and my lifestyle. I hope to build this program to a championship level but most importantly a safe and productive environment for your students to experience and grow and become more than they thought they could become.
Thank you
Here are a few of my favorite Theaters in town. All of my students get 10 points extra credit for attending a performance in the community. The following theaters have very professional shows with professionally designed shows and local and spotlight actors. Please be aware that not all of these shows will be family friendly and I encourage high school viewers do their research before attending a show.
All of my classes aim for not only a study in the art of theatre but also in professionalism, please follow the links below to view my syllabus for each subject and the classroom expectations which covers all classes. Thank you for your continued support in this year's productions and academics.
