Thank you for taking the time to complete the Experience Survey in November. Over the past several months, we have met with students, families, and staff to carefully review the results, celebrate our strengths, and identify meaningful experience driven goals directly aligned to your feedback.

In response, we have established the following goals:

  • Student Experience Survey Goal:

  • Continue to foster a culture of students embodying the Chief Joseph Way to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe through our PBS structure. Each Monday teachers will focus on a certain area and engage students in discourse about what it means to be respectful, responsible, and safe in that area.

  • Create expectations that are shared with students about their role in keeping the school clean, maintaining their spaces, and highlight classes who do so exceptionally well.

  • Parent Experience Survey Goal:

  • Print schoolwide postcards and a classroom set of mailing labels for each teacher for a simple system that ensures students receive a positive message delivered to their home throughout the remainder of the school year.

  • When classroom teachers enter a final grade into PowerSchool for a unit assessment in ELA or Math, they will include a line in their weekly email to parents to let them know it’s been entered so parents can check to see how their students did on a particular skill.

  • Staff Experience Survey Goal:

  • Create a section of the Weekly Update that highlights the different strengths, celebrations, and highlights of the amazing things happening at Chief Joseph.

  • Create a system with written documentation to provide strength-based feedback to teachers, especially focusing on clarity, discourse, and direct modeling.

These goals will intentionally guide our focus on engagement now through the beginning of 2027. We are committed to measurable progress and will provide updates along the way so you can see the impact of this work. We look forward to reflecting on our growth in the 2026 survey cycle.

With appreciation,

Kayla Burton, Principal
