Starting next Tuesday, August 26th, students will be expected to have their Student ID Badges with them to scan on and off the bus each time they ride.

Student ID Badges help our transportation team accurately account for students while they are being transported and also allow families to monitor their child’s travel each day.

If a student forgets their bade in the morning, the driver will always allow them to board. No student will be left at a stop because they don't have their ID.

In the afternoon, if a student does not have their ID, they will need a bus pass to board the bus. At Crossroads, students can get a bus pass during the school day at the main office, and after school at our bus pass station.

At Crossroads we strive to balance patience, understanding, and support with student ownership and accountability. To help student meet ID expectations, if they forget their ID, we have developed the following progression:

• 1st Time: Student receives a bus pass, and a reminder to bring their ID.
• 2nd Time: Bus pass issued, reminder given, and a call home.
• 3rd Time: Bus pass issued, one on one meeting with the student to develop a plan for remembering their ID, and a call home.
• 4th Time: Students will be expected to have their ID to board the bus. If they do not, they will need to be picked up.

Our Back to School Night will be held Wednesday, August 27th, from 6:00-7:30 pm.

• Main entrance doors open at 5:30 : Please sign in at our welcome table and pick up your schedule.

• Classroom doors open at 5:45: Families may wait in the library or the cafeteria until classrooms open.
• Classroom Visits (6:00-7:05): Families will follow a four-period schedule to visit Math, ELA, Social Studies, and Science classrooms (14 minutes per class, 3 minute passing period). Teachers will share curriculum highlights, and other key elements of our community used to support student learning, including:
• CMS’s Positive Behavior System

• Secondary Grading Practices

• Power 30 Class & After School Study Lab

• CMS’s Learner Disposition

• Closing (7:07-7:30): The evening will conclude with refreshments served in the cafeteria.

At Crossroads every student is issued a laptop, but chargers are only checked out upon request.

The reason we use a request based process for charger check is because we have charging stations in each classroom that allow students to charge their device at any time during the school day.

If your student would like a charger for home use, parent permission is required. On Monday, students who request a charger will receive a permission slip to take home. Parents can also complete the form electronically by clicking here.

Chargers will be distributed to students who have permission on Wednesday 8/27.

Throughout the school year, chargers may be checked out at any time (with parent permission) for as little as one night or as long as several months.
