| | INFORMATION FROM CMS'S COUNSELING DEPARTMENTCrossroads Middle School and the West Ada School District understands that a student may not be in a learning state of mind if their family is struggling with limited resources at home. Access to resources can play an important role in supporting student learning and well being.
This Resource Brochure has links to a variety of supports available to West Ada families. If a needed resource is not listed, the Resource Questionnaire allows families to share what support might be helpful. Our counselor, Rikki Jensen, follows up directly with everyone who completes this form. Mrs. Jensen can also be reached at jensen.rikki@westada.org or 208-855-4278. | | BOOKS AND BUDDIES, TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 16TH, 6:00-7:30Come join us for an evening of books, activities, and family fun!
Four Crossroads teachers will each share a different book and host an activity to bring their story to life. Families can enjoy a light snack before exploring the activities and learning more about each book.
At the end of the night, students will select the book they’d like to take home, receiving two copies: one for themselves and one for their buddy (a parent, caregiver, or other adult age 18+).
Reading is better with Books and Buddies—don’t miss it!
To help us with planning, please RSVP using one of the following options: - Return the flyer: A hard copy flyer was sent home with your child on Friday 9/5. Fill out the bottom portion and have your student return it to the main office or their advisory teacher.
- Email: crossroadsms@westada.org (include your name, your child's name and total number attending).
| | UPCOMING LOCKDOWN DRILL AT CROSSROADS MIDDLE SCHOOLAt Crossroads Middle School, the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and all visitors to our campus is a top priority. As part of our comprehensive safety plan, we conduct safety drills throughout the year.
On Wednesday September 17th, around 9:45 AM, Crossroads Middle School in partnership with the Meridian Police Department will conduct our first semester lockdown drill.
The purpose of this drill is to practice and assess our emergency plan, ensuring our response aligns with best practice standards.
To keep families informed, you will receive a text when the drill begins, and another one when the drill concludes. Additionally, at school, to ensure no one is caught off guard, an announcement will be to staff and students via our PA before our drill begins.
Teachers review safety procedures with students throughout the year, focusing on helping them understand the steps they can take to keep themselves safe.
For more information on West Ada School District's standardized approach to school safety click here to visit our district's school safety webpage. If you have questions or would like to discuss this further, please contact me at mura.matthew@westada.org or 208-855-4276.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in helping make CMS a community that is safe, respectful, and responsible. | | 1ST COUGAR TIME AT CMSCougar Time is part of CMS's Positive Behavior System, and takes place once a month. It’s a chance to celebrate students who have stayed on track with their learning and behavior, while also giving other students dedicated time and support to catch up.
In order for a student to be eligible to participate in Cougar Time they must have a green behavior sheet, have no IP's (In progress) on assignments, and be current on their iReady lessons.
Students who qualify for Cougar Time choose from a variety of fun activities, while students who need extra time use the hour to get caught up on assignments and lessons.
Our first Cougar Time of the year is on September 19th, and we’re looking forward to celebrating our students’ hard work, perseverance, and positive choices! | | YEARBOOK ORDERINGIt's time to preorder your Crossroads Middle School yearbook!
