Starting next Tuesday, August 25th, students will be expected to have their Student ID Badges with them to scan on and off the bus each time they ride.

Student ID Badges help our transportation team accurately account for students while they are being transported and also allow families to monitor their child’s travel each day.

If a student forgets their bade in the morning, the driver will always allow them to board. No student will be left at a stop because they don't have their ID.

In the afternoon, if a student does not have their ID, they will need a bus pass to board the bus. At Crossroads, students can get a bus pass during the school day at the main office, and after school at our bus pass station.

Crossroads Middle School Back to School Night will be held from 6:00-7:30 on Wednesday August 26th.

• 5:30 - Main entrance doors open
• Check in and pick up a copy of your child's schedule
• 6:00-6:15, Brief Welcome in the Gym
• Hear a short presentation about some key elements of Crossroads
• **6:15-7:15, Meet and Greet
• Informal times for families to move throughout the building and visit classrooms. (no set schedule to follow)
• Meet teacher and see classrooms
• Ask questions about class, learning, expectations, and more.
• Visit other staff/information stations
• 7:15-7:30, Wrap up and refreshments served in the gym

Dear West Ada Families,

As we begin a new school year, we want to take a moment to remind everyone about an important safety expectation across the West Ada School District.

Weapons of any kind are prohibited at school and school property.

West Ada School District Policy 0520.10 prohibits students from knowingly or voluntarily possessing, handling, transmitting, or using any instrument that can be used as a weapon. This also includes replicas, look-alikes, or items that could reasonably be mistaken for a weapon.

Examples include, but are not limited to, knives of any type, guns, metal knuckles, throwing stars, fireworks, explosives, mace or other chemicals, and other objects that could be used to injure another person.

We recognize that students may sometimes have items in backpacks, vehicles, pockets, or personal belongings without thinking about whether those items are allowed at school. Please take a few minutes to check backpacks, bags, vehicles, and other belongings and remove anything that could be considered a weapon before coming onto school property.

Parents and guardians, we ask for your help by talking with your students about this policy and helping them check their belongings. An item brought to school without an intent to harm can still create a serious safety concern and have significant disciplinary consequences.

Under District Policy 0520.10, possession, use, or attempted use of anything as a weapon will result in the student being referred to the District Discipline Review Committee.

Our goal is not simply to enforce a policy, it is to keep our schools safe and focused on learning.

Every student, staff member, and family plays an important role in that effort.

Thank you for helping us start the school year safely and for doing your part to keep West Ada schools safe, welcoming, and focused on learning.

The West Ada School District regularly utilizes the Apptegy Notification system to send district and

school-specific information to parents/guardians via text, phone call, and/or e-mail. The

communications sent via Apptegy are one-way alerts, to which the recipient can not respond.

These communications include notification regarding attendance, lockdown drills, late buses,

school closures, lunch account balances, registration information, as well as other important

topics.

Those present in the Household Tab in PowerSchool are automatically enrolled to receive these

messages. If you are not receiving messages:

• Ensure your contact information is accurate in PowerSchool.
• If you are not receiving texts, please begin by texting START to 98900.
• If you are not receiving emails, please check your spam or junk mail folders to ensure that you are able to receive emails from our domain - @westada.org.
