Reasons to Donate

Benefits of Support

There are many reasons to donate to the Education Foundation!

Our mission is to provide supplemental funding and support for educational programs and projects in classroom innovation for the benefit of students in the West Ada School District.

Adding more innovation and creativity into our classrooms!

Our funding helps teachers and staff be innovative in the classroom!  Creativity and innovation in the classroom helps encourage students to find an answer, solve problems and transfer skills to real life situations.  Many of our grants support project-based learning and design thinking.  Teachers in our district find ways to unleash student creativity and involve students in their own learning.

You can donate to a specific teacher or classroom.

Your donations can be designated to a specific classroom or teacher.  One way is to support teachers by making donations directly to their classrooms. Many teachers find themselves spending money out of their own pockets to make learning opportunities happen that are not funded by traditional funding streams.

When you donate to a teacher, the funding comes through us and goes directly to that teacher. And because we are a nonprofit organization, you are eligible to earn a tax deduction for the donation.

What benefits do I receive by giving to the foundation?

My gift provides teachers the opportunity to implement creative and innovative learning opportunities above and beyond what state funding mandates.

I may receive a tax deduction and other tax advantages when giving.  The Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  My donation will go further if my spouse or I are employed with a company that matches gifts.  Charitable gifts to the Education Foundation may be claimed as a tax deduction on both federal and state income tax returns.  In addition, Idaho taxpayers may be entitled to claim a tax credit for such donations equal to certain limits.  For married taxpayers, a 50% credit may be allowed for donations up to $2,000, resulting in a maximum credit of $1,000.  Consult your tax advisor for more information.

How will my donation be used?

My donation may be undesignated, designated or both.  It may be in honor of someone special.

My undesignated contribution supports marketing efforts and our teacher grant award programs.  This amount ensures the growth of the foundation. (In order for the Foundation to grow- undesignated giving is essential. All funds must be spent in the year they are received and any unspent funds not used within one year shall revert equally to the grants and endowment funds.

My  designated contribution supports:

  • Individual teacher classrooms

  • Specific schools

  • Special school or district-wide programs

  • PTO-PTA Booster clubs

  • Endowment fund
