Red Ribbon Week

🎃 Dress-Up and Halloween Costume Guidelines

Costume Expectations

  • Costumes must be school-appropriate and comfortable enough for a full day of learning and play.

  • Students must be able to dress themselves for unassisted restroom use.

  • No latex materials.

  • Please avoid costumes that are revealing or contain inappropriate language or images.

  • Students should be able to move easily, sit at their desks, and participate in regular school activities while in costume.

Safety & Props

  • No props, accessories or attachments that may get lost.

  • No weapon-like accessories (toy swords, guns, knives, sticks, etc.).

  • No blood, gore, or scary costumes that might frighten younger students.

  • No masks or face coverings.

  • Face paint is acceptable if it allows staff to easily recognize the student’s face.

  • No inflatable or oversized costumes, as they can be distracting or block hallways.

Practical Tips

  • Unless otherwise directed by the teacher, students may arrive at school in costume.

  • Teachers may ask students to remove accessories or parts of a costume during class time if needed for safety or learning.

  • Costumes must follow the school dress code. Regular clothing should be worn underneath if necessary for comfort or P.E.

Respect & Inclusion

  • Costumes should be respectful of all cultures, identities, and backgrounds.

  • Please avoid costumes that represent or stereotype groups of people or cultures.

  • Our goal is to ensure every student feels included and comfortable during the celebration.
