October has been an incredible month for the Mountain View Band program!
The Symphonic Band kicked things off with their earliest concert in school history on October 1st, performing alongside the Boise State Symphonic Winds. Their program featured the same repertoire used for their audition to the 2026 Idaho Music Educators Conference (IMEA) in February.
On Saturday, October 11th, the Marching Mavericks traveled down to Utah and competed in the Rocky Mountain Invitational at BYU, earning 2nd place in the 5A division out of eight bands.
Just a week later, on Monday, October 20th, the Symphonic Band received exciting news and learned their audition was successful. They have been invited to perform at the IMEA Conference, opening the event on Thursday, February 5.
To round out the month, on Saturday, October 25th, the Marching Mavericks took the field at the District III Mel Shelton Marching Band Festival at Boise State University. Performing on the iconic blue turf, the band earned top honors, receiving the 1st Place Sweepstakes Award out of 26 bands. They also took home 1st Place in the Large Open classification, along with awards for Best Visual Performance, Best General Effect, and Best Percussion.
The Marching Mavericks wrap up their season this weekend at the Bands of America Idaho Regional, where they’ll face competition from some of the strongest programs in the Northwest. We can’t wait to see how they place and look forward to continuing to raise the bar for excellence in performance.
