About The Librarians

Mrs. Knuth

Hi, my name is Cheryl Knuth and this is my seventh year at Pioneer, and my fourth year working in the library. I  worked in the Computer Lab for three and a half years before transferring to the library.  I  love reading and I am excited to share great literature with the students at Pioneer. I have worked in the West Ada District for eleven years.  I worked as a substitute teacher and as a Special Education Paraprofessional before coming to Pioneer.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Washington State University.  My husband is a retired Middle School teacher.  We have three adult children and two grandchildren.  Our kids all attended and graduated from West Ada Schools.  I really enjoy teaching children in grades K-5 at Pioneer and I am so excited to continue working with students in the library and helping them discover the magic of books.

When I am not reading I enjoy spending my  free time biking, hiking with my husband and his  dogs, and relaxing with my family.   I think Pioneer is a great school and I feel privileged to be a part of this wonderful learning community.

Mrs. Hester

My name is Nicky Hester, and I am excited to be in my second year as a part time librarian.  I was a library volunteer at Pioneer for 11 years and a substitute teacher for several of those years.  I have a passion for reading so being in the library is my “happy place”!  I am looking forward to working with the students and sharing my love for books.  My goal is to teach all students the wonders of reading and how it can inspire the mind.

I have a bachelor’s degree from Boise State University.  My husband works for Micron, and I have twins who also attended Pioneer.  In my spare time, when I am not reading of course, I love to paddle board, walk my Shih Tzu, Chewie and spend time in the outdoors with my family.

“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” - Jim Rohn

Story Time

Hello Pumas!

I miss you all so much and our time together in the library each week.  I have made a video of me reading a story for each grade.  Just click on the link for your grade and watch.  I hope you enjoy the books!

Happy Reading,

Mrs. Knuth
