CTE College & Career Center

The technical, academic, and employability skills that students gain in CTE programs are essential for college and career success.  West Ada CTE programs provide rigorous coursework, work-based learning, highly qualified instructors, relevant industry instruction, along with peer involvement through career and technical student organizations, to create a recipe for student achievement.

In addition, the State of Idaho also provides avenues for West Ada CTE students to utilize advanced opportunity funding, concurrent credit enrollment, along with access to industry certification upon graduating high school.

Concurrent & Technical Credits

Advanced opportunities courses pertaining to Career and Technical Education are offered throughout grades 9th-12th, with capstone classes commencing in the 11th and 12th grade.  Currently, the West Ada CTE program in conjunction with the State of Idaho, offers students the option to enroll in concurrent credit courses or technical competency credit courses to offer students and opportunity to jump start their post-secondary career.

Concurrent credit courses are college-level undergraduate courses taken while enrolled in high school, on the high school campus.  A student who is enrolled in concurrent credit and successfully completes the course, will earn transcribed college credits for the college associated with the course.

Technical competency credits, in most cases, only apply to postsecondary technical programs.  Students will document proficiency in their skills and abilities, translating into technical college credits. For CTE high school programs that are SkillStack® aligned, students are given an opportunity to earn SkillStack badges.  To learn more about badging, visit the State of Idaho Career & Technical SkillStack® website
