Welcome Back, West Ada Family!
This year is a special one. In 2025–26, we celebrate 75 Years of Learning, Growing, and Leading in the West Ada School District. It’s incredible to reflect on how far we’ve come—from a small-town school system to the largest district in Idaho, now serving over 40,000 students and supported by more than 4,500 dedicated staff members.
Even with our size, what makes West Ada so special is that we’ve never lost our sense of connection. We’re a district big enough to make a real impact—but small enough to truly care. Every student, every classroom, and every family matters here.
To our students; you remain at the very heart of everything we do. For 75 years, you’ve inspired us to be better, dream bigger, and work harder. You are the reason we show up each day. We know that being a student today can be tough, and we want you to know you’re not alone on this journey. We believe in you. We are here for you. And we are committed to giving you the tools and support you need to thrive. I challenge you to dream big this year—and challenge us to help you get there.
To our families; thank you for your trust. Thank you for your partnership. The role you play in your child’s education is immeasurable, and we see the impact of your support every day. I still remember the feeling of dropping my own children off for their first day of kindergarten—equal parts pride and worry. Whether this August is your child’s first or last “first day,” please know we don’t take your trust for granted. We are honored to be part of your child’s life.
And to our incredible staff; you are the heartbeat of this district. From our classrooms to our buses, from front offices to cafeterias, from maintenance crews to counselors—you make West Ada run. You are mentors, advocates, problem-solvers, and champions for kids. Thank you for choosing this work. Thank you for choosing our students. Thank you for choosing West Ada.
For 75 years, we’ve lived our mission: Preparing Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Challenges. That’s not just a slogan—it’s a promise. And as we embark on this milestone year, I’m filled with gratitude and hope. The first day of school is my favorite day of the year, and I can’t wait to see all the possibility and promise it brings.
Here’s to an unforgettable school year. Let’s make it one to celebrate—for the next 75 years and beyond.
Warmly,
Dr. Derek Bub
