What Is Back to School Night?

Back to School Night is an open-house style event hosted at each school. Families tour the building, visit classrooms, and connect face-to-face with teachers, counselors, and administrators. You’ll hear about curriculum, classroom routines, and the best ways to partner with your school throughout the year.

What to Expect

  • Meet your student’s teachers and learn about course goals, grading, and communication methods.

  • Follow a mini-schedule (secondary) or visit homerooms/specials (elementary) to see where learning happens.

  • Discover supports like counseling, special services, gifted/talented, activities, and athletics.

  • Get tech-ready: learn how to access district platforms, class websites, and grade portals.

  • Transportation & meals: find bus route info and meal program details.

  • Community resources: connect with PTAs/PTOs, boosters, and volunteer opportunities.

Why Show Up?

  • Build relationships: meeting the people who support your student sets a positive tone for the year.

  • Stay informed: understand expectations, key dates, and how to get help early.

  • Boost confidence: students feel more comfortable on day one when they’ve seen their classrooms and met staff.

  • Partner for success: learn how teachers and families can communicate and work together.

Helpful Tips

  • Arrive a few minutes early for parking and to pick up maps/schedules at the entrance.

  • Bring your student’s class schedule (secondary) or teacher’s name (elementary).

  • Have questions ready about homework, grading, or class materials.

  • Translation & accessibility: If you need interpretation or accommodations, contact your school office in advance so we can help.

  • Can’t attend? Check your school’s website and teacher communications for materials and follow-up information.
