Superintendent's Back-to-School Address 2022-23 school year

West Ada School Community,

I hope that you all enjoyed your summer break, finding time for all the relaxing and restful activities that are sometimes difficult to schedule during the school year. During the summer, the District continued to develop and enhance a variety of our programs in preparation for the 2022-23 school year: the completion of numerous improvements to our buildings, expanding curriculum, elevating school safety and embracing early childhood learning with full-day, no cost Kindergarten across West Ada.

As an educator and a father, I know the first day of school is just as exciting as it is nerve-wracking. I am incredibly grateful for our educators and the time, energy and dedication they put into making sure our students feel the way I felt as a student. Thank you for welcoming our students with open arms every day. Thank you for sparking their imagination and creativity. Thank you for your dutiful preparation to ensure that our students receive high-quality instruction. Thank you for keeping them safe.

This year our District’s theme is Choose Challenge. I ask you join me in Choosing Challenge:

  • Students - Try something new and step out of your comfort zone.
  • Parents - Allow your children to productively struggle and learn from challenge.
  • Staff - Embrace change and challenge yourself to try new things.
  • Leaders - Don't be afraid to take risks in an effort to reflect, learn and grow!

In stepping out of our comfort zones, exploring new ideas and strategies, embracing change and adapting in order to grow we will succeed and learn. It is working together as a class, as a family, as a team, as a district and choosing challenge that we build on the momentum of West Ada, always aiming to “Prepare Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Challenges.”

I am eager to collaborate with students, families, staff and community members to improve achievement for all students and ensure that every student has the resources and the opportunities necessary to reach their unique potential. I am committed to educating and preparing every West Ada student for college, career and life, and look forward to working with you and the rest of the community to ensure a successful and fulfilling year ahead. I am confident that this year will be one of growth, learning and achieving the extraordinary as we Choose Challenge!

However you are spending the last few days of summer, please enjoy it and know we are beyond excited to welcome you for the beginning of the 2022-23 school year.
