STAFF OF THE WEEK: Art Calisto. Thank you, Mr. Calisto, for taking on PD opportunities focused on supporting our ML students. Your presentations have been very informative, and I love how teachers have some easy take-aways to try in their classroom. In addition, your work throughout the day, from helping with student situations to supporting teachers, is much appreciated. The LHMS Staff is better because of you!

This week Ms. Nava's eighth grade math students are starting to investigate systems of equations. They worked with partners to solve a system in three different ways: with a table, graph, and using the equation!

These are a few of the things our LHMS staff is thankful for this November.

STAFF OF THE WEEK: Ms. R. Johnson, your students are so lucky to have you! Thank you for your hard work and dedication. Your efforts to set foundations and guide students to appropriate classroom and hallway behavior are seen and appreciated! Thank you for stepping into this important teaching role at LHMS.

The change in the weather means it's time for our Snow Bound Cherokees! There will be a parent meeting on November 21st at 5:30 pm in room 700. For more information, please see the Lake Hazel Middle School website under Ski and Snowboard Club.

Phase 1 is almost complete. With just a few finishing touches needed to the classrooms, we are able to open up the hallways by the gym and locker rooms. Thank you to all the voters for helping make this remodel possible!

Mrs. Martin's Horticulture students studied soil and got to "eat dirt" as a fun way to wrap up the unit!

STAFF OF THE WEEK: Jason Lindstrom. I want to thank Mr. Lindstrom for attending to all of our computer tech needs. He has a huge job in keeping technology working smoothly for students and the LHMS Staff, a job that constantly changes and never ends! Thank you for everything you do!

A look back at Red Ribbon Week. The students and staff had a fun time wearing pajamas, dressing like twins and their favorite movie characters. Each grade also signed a red ribbon pledging to be drug free.

STAFF OF THE WEEK: Michelle Castillo. I know Mrs. Castillo gets praised for the AMAZING job she does, but I would like to highlight her personality traits of resilience in difficult situations and tenacity in the way she takes care of students. She will not relent if it's for the good of a student! She will find a solution to even the weirdest problems!

Mrs. Call's 6th grade P.E. classes have been working on Pickleball skills. To end the two-and-a-half-week unit, they competed in a tournament. Congratulations to the winners who are now "Kind of a Big Dill"!

Students in Miss Nava's math classes have been working on understanding slope and initial value in y= mx+b. Here they were focused on building the four representations, graphs, tables, equations, and patterns.
