Why is there an Application and Lottery at Pioneer?
While Pioneer is a free public school within West Ada School District, Pioneer is one of the district's "Schools of Choice" which indicates that we have a focus area (the arts) and do not have a traditional neighborhood boundary area. Enrollment at our school is established through a random lottery draw. The highest likelihood of being placed at Pioneer is with an on-time application. Seats that open up are offered to children on our waitlist. Late applications place a student on our waitlist in chronological order. So don't wait Apply Today!
2026-27 Lottery Timeline - Important Dates to Know
November 1-30 - On-Time Application window (see below for TOUR DATES)
December 9 - Lottery Draw @ DSC (open to the public)
January 7 - Late Applications Open
