This months Student Standout recipient is Colby Bond from Renaissance High School! When we asked the Renaissance High School Administration and Staff who they recommended as the next Student Standout recipient, Colby Bond was mentioned again and again. Colby is an active participant in the IB Diploma Program, speech and debate, and mentoring his peers. Colby contributes to the community through activities such as Irish dance, summer jobs, and was featured in an anti-substance abuse PSA with the Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition. Beyond his academic achievements, principled work ethic, and maintaining excellent grades, Colby is recognized for his inclusive, caring, and respectful treatment of others. As well as, advocating for those who may be uncomfortable or unable to speak up for themselves. For these reasons and more, Colby Bond is the next Meridian Police Department Student Standout Award winner for November 2023. Congrats Colby!

Let's celebrate our IBCP and IBDP 2023 graduates! December 21st 2-4pm Ceremony will be held in the White Cloud Auditorium inside of the Renaissance HS/West Ada School District building. Please park on the East side of the building.

Congratulations to RHS Speech and Debate teacher/coach Kyra Drexler! Mrs. Drexler has been honored by the Idaho Speech Arts Teacher Association (ISATA) with the award for Speech Arts Teacher of the Year! Speech Arts Teacher of the Year is an award to recognize outstanding contributions and excellence in the field of speech arts education, specifically Speech and Debate, and it is a testament to Kyra’s unwavering commitment to providing students with an exceptional learning experience. Kyra was voted as the Speech Arts Teacher of the Year by her peers and speaks to the excellent reputation that she has within our community. An excerpt from one of Kyra’s nominations reads: Kyra has run a first-rate and very successful program at Renaissance since she became a coach. She has served the NSDA well in her role on the Gem of the Mountain committee as member and chair, helped lead the assembly each semester of the D3 legislation packet (huge undertaking), and has served as manager at several state tournaments. All in all, she is a great role model of an involved and caring coach.

Students and parents who are interested in finding out more about Renaissance High School are invited to attend “Discover Renaissance” Information Night on Tuesday, November 7th or Wednesday, November 8th, 2024. Renaissance High School is a public school of choice in the West Ada School District and offers college preparatory programs including the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Career Programs, and an Associate of Arts degree from Idaho State University. Congratulations to two of our incredible staff members here at Renaissance High School! The West Ada Education Foundation awarded Michelle Mallet a grant for a project where students will get to make their own books in the library. Adam Li was also awarded a grant to purchase culture supplies for his classes.

Today we celebrate the unsung heroes in our buildings across the district. Thank you, custodians for all that you do!

Accreditation from Cognia is a valuable mark of distinction recognized around the world. Renaissance is excited to be recognized as a school that demonstrated evidence of high-quality teaching and learning. Through the rigorous accreditation process, we provided evidence of growth in learning, a healthy culture for learning and high-quality instructional environments. Only 33 institutions were recognized from approximately 1,100 around the world. Nice work, Voyagers!

Renaissance has eight (8!) National Merit Scholarship semifinalists!!! Congratulations to Lucy Porter, Hannah Scoville, Hannah Beaver, Brooklyn Lewis, Colman Lee, Logan Ray, Cameron Beaver, and Jonathan Van Vliet!!

Popcorn with the Principal(s)! The fabulous RHS Boosters provided popcorn and Voyagers got to enjoy popcorn with Principal McGroarty and say thank you to Dr. Hawkins.

Today is the 24th which means it is Senior Day for the class of 2024!! Seniors who wore their Senior shirt today got to enjoy shaved ice.
