Wow! What a great experience! Recently, Spalding's 4th grade classes split into two groups so we could have a guided tour of the State Capitol. Half of the classes went on April 4 and half on April 5. The weather was unusually cold and rainy/snowy so we did not have the opportunity to eat lunch in the park. But, our guided tours were phenomenal! Such a great experience. The students learned so much. Idaho is so blessed to have such a beautiful Capitol building.

Thursday, April 4 was Librarian day! Spalding STEM is so lucky to have Mrs. Verheij for our librarian. She is so very kind, clearly loves working with children, and incredibly hard-working! Students and staff wrote her notes of appreciation on, what else, a paper cutout of a book. Thanks for all you do Mrs. V! We appreciate you! #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

April 3 was Paraprofessional Appreciation Day! We have some of the best here at Spalding STEM! We are so thankful for our hardworking, compassionate, and kind Paras. #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

At Spalding STEM, we've been busy these last few weeks. So much fun and so much learning! It's great to be a Spalding Eagle! Two weeks ago we had a visit from author Alicia Klepeis. Ms. Klepeis primarily writes non-fiction children's books. Her presentation on how she writes books was outstanding! The students (and staff) loved the ideas and presentation. A big thank you to Alicia Klepeis for sharing her talent with us. #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

Westy from West Ada's School Nutrition Services visited Spalding STEM Academy during lunch today! The kids loved seeing Westy who not only helped in the kitchen and visited kids while they ate. Such fun part of the day! Westy, thanks for visiting! #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

Yesterday, three Spalding STEM staff got to attend Idaho Lottery Jim Bruce Scratch for Schools hosted by the Idaho Lottery! Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Amy, and Ms. Jamie put their all into the event and earned us a whopping $300. This money will enrich Spalding and we are so thankful. #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

First graders worked hard to create leprechaun traps...but alas they couldn't outsmart the leprechauns. Just before St. Patricks day the students engineered traps using a variety of materials. Our students are pretty smart and creative, we aren't sure why they weren't able to catch a leprechaun! #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

Right before Spring Break, the 5th grade All-Stars played basketball against the Pirates (AKA Staff). It was a fast, fun, high scoring, and competitive game. The 4th and 5th graders who watched seemed to have as much fun as everyone on the court! 🏀 #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

Today was the 4th Grade Music program. The program theme was Idaho History. The 4th graders did a great job singing and playing their recorders. A big thanks to Ms. Floyd for all of her hard work organizing the program and helping the kids to be prepared. #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

Spalding STEM'S Third grade was happy to host KTVB's meteorologist, Rachel Garceau for a weather presentation this morning! She helped kick off our PBL unit on weather and got students excited about meteorology. Each third-grade class will be showcased tomorrow (Tuesday) morning on "Wake Up Idaho" if you'd like to tune in to KTVB, at 6:50 a.m. (approx.). #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

Spalding STEM was so lucky to have Emily Inouye Huey, a children’s author, visit today. She talked with kindergarten through second grade students about her books. Thank you so much for coming to Spalding. #SpaldingSTEM #ForOurKids

It is READ Week at Spalding STEM. There is a dress-up theme for each day. And don't forget that Wednesday is a Professional Development Day so there is no school. Our PTO is also holding it's annual Dime Drive this week. It's going to be a great week of learning!

Last week, Spalding STEM hosted our annual Family STEM Nights. We had so much fun with our school families and are eagerly anticipating next year's event. Here are just a few more pictures of the fun, learning, and time with family. Thank you to all who participated.
