Emergency Medical Technician- EMT Basic is a yearlong capstone course offered as part of West Ada’s @wasd_cte pathways. When completed this program provides students the opportunity to take the National EMT exams needed to get certified as a pre-hospital care provider. EMT is a great introductory medical course that gives students the foundational skills they will need to further their education in all areas of healthcare. At the completion of the EMT course students receive all the training and certifications they will need to go directly into the work force right out of high school. Today, @governorbradlittle visited our state of the art ambulance 🚑 simulator. The simulator is funded by grant funds from the Governor’s Leading Idaho Plan for secondary education. Over the past two years, West Ada CTE has been awarded grant funds and last year received the Building Idaho’s Future Initiative Grant in the amount of $144,960.79 to fund equipment in the following programs: • EMT • Rehabilitation Services at Eagle High School • Diesel Technology This year West Ada received the Leading Idaho Grant in the amount of $260,550.00 to fund software/equipment in the following programs: • Rehabilitation Services • Law Enforcement Governor Little visited @renaissancehs today to experience first-hand the ambulance simulator, stretcher and lucas device which was purchased with grant funds last year as well. Thank you Idaho. Thank you @governorbradlittle #wearewestada #proudtobewasd

West Ada School District and College Board are proud to announce that Eagle High School student Zoe Bean has earned a $40,000 scholarship through BigFuture. "We're all so happy for Zoe. Winning this incredible scholarship is a great reward for all the planning she's put into her life after graduation,” said Dr. Derek Bub, West Ada Superintendent. “Zoe exemplifies the 'Choose Challenge' motto we've adopted for the 2022-2023 school year, and we couldn't be more proud." BigFuture, driven by College Board, provides guidance to high school students by recommending steps students can take to explore career interests, identify potential majors, find colleges and scholarships and access financial aid. It rewards students’ planning efforts with drawings for several $500 scholarships and bi-monthly $40,000 scholarship drawings. “Now more than ever, students need simple and credible tools to help them choose the college and career that’s right for them,” said Tarlin Ray, College Board senior vice president of BigFuture. “We’ve integrated these scholarship steps into BigFuture so every student—no matter where they are on their journey to college—can take the steps Zoe has taken to raise their hands and earn themselves a big future.” Zoe is the first student to receive this scholarship in the state of Idaho. She plans on studying nursing upon graduation. #wearewestada #proudtobewasd

Welcome to Star Middle School’s pre-engineering class. Mrs. Leininger’s students are working on a fun and challenging collaboration/team-building and resilience-building activity.  Students worked together to create a chain reaction using craft sticks.  They focused on the importance of failure as part of the learning process, teamwork in achieving challenging goals, and being kind and encouraging to our peers. Great job Cowboys! #learningisfun #wearewestada
