West Ada School Community,
In light of the recent tragedy at the University of Idaho, a candlelight vigil has been scheduled in Moscow, ID for Wednesday, November 30 at 5pm PT/6pm MT.
The University of Idaho is a dear partner of ours and we stand in solidarity as a family during this difficult time. As a symbol of this united support, West Ada schools, along with several other school districts across the state, will turn on exterior stadium lights from 3:00-6:00pm MT on Wednesday, November 30.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected as well as the entire Vandal family as we collectively cope with this tragic loss.
Dr. Bub
Superintendent

Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🦃 💕
Thanksgiving is a good time to pause, reflect and be thankful for all that we have and all that we value. There is a great deal to be thankful for in West Ada and I am incredibly thankful for our school community. Our success as a school district would not be possible without your partnership. We are beyond grateful to have such committed educators, families and students and I am lucky to share in this journey of keeping children at the center of our hearts, our mission and in every decision we make.
I look forward to reconnecting after the break, until then, have a safe and joyous start to the holiday season. I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!
- Dr. Bub, Superintendent 🧡💛🤎

Congratulations to @wasd_cte and @mvhs_mavs senior Shelby Wallace, who signed a Student To Registered Apprenticeship Program (STRAP) agreement with Sheet Metal Workers Local 55 and will be employed as an apprentice with @ymcmechanical. This was signed at the “Pacific Northwest Education Conference” held at Boise Grove Hotel. This is such a great opportunity for Shelby, and we are proud of her accomplishments!
What is the Student To Registered Apprenticeship Program? This is a program sponsored by @idaholabor where a student is hired by a partnership company and begins on the job training while still attending high school. After graduating from high school, the student will have completed a portion of the apprenticeship program and will continue working with employer in the apprenticeship program with an advancing wage scale.

Congratulations to @mvhs_mavs senior Chase Crawford on being the runner up for the Bright Future Scholarship hosted by @idaho_national_lab
A senior at Mountain View High School Chase will receive a $6,500 scholarship for his response to the prompt: “How do the actual risks and benefits of nuclear energy compare with other existing energy technologies and those that will be part of the world’s Net-Zero future?”
In his presentation, Chase made some conclusions, including that nuclear energy is essential to a realistic, economically viable net-zero future because of its ability to replace coal and other GHG-emitting energy forms as well as its constant available energy.
Outside of school, Crawford enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and rock climbing. This figures in where he would like to go to college, most likely a place where mountains are not far away like Utah State University.
Congratulations Chase!!!! We are beyond proud of you and this major accomplishment. #wearewestada #proudtobewasd

Congratulations to our Chief of Staff and the 2022 Clerk of the Year, West Ada’s Niki Scheppers!
Niki was nominated for this recognition because of her commitment to excellence and extremely efficient work. Her peers have praised her ability to manage and juggle meeting logistics, learn District operations, and dive-in on procedures. Niki quickly builds trust with those around her and is a valuable resource for the Board of Trustees. Niki is instrumental in West Ada’s success.
Congratulations on this well-earned distinction, and thank you for all that you do, Niki!

Emergency Medical Technician- EMT Basic is a yearlong capstone course offered as part of West Ada’s @wasd_cte pathways. When completed this program provides students the opportunity to take the National EMT exams needed to get certified as a pre-hospital care provider.
EMT is a great introductory medical course that gives students the foundational skills they will need to further their education in all areas of healthcare. At the completion of the EMT course students receive all the training and certifications they will need to go directly into the work force right out of high school.

This year West Ada received the Leading Idaho Grant in the amount of $260,550.00 to fund software/equipment in the following programs:
