Our school wide Halloween party is just a week away and we can't wait to celebrate with the kids! We will be celebrating on Monday, October 31st from 3:00-3:45 on the playground and field. Families are encouraged to join the fun, especially for the costume parade. Games, activities, and treats will be available to all students. Our costume parade will begin at 3:30 with all students ending back at their classrooms. Costumes should be brought to school in a bag. Students should be able to put their costumes on over their clothing with little or no help. No masks, face paint, hair dye, or weapons will be allowed. If your child does not have a costume, we will provide them with one for the afternoon if they wish. If you have any questions, please contact your child's classroom teacher.

Good Things Grow at Frontier! At the beginning of the year, we asked every student to set a goal for themselves...something reasonable and attainable. With hard work and determination, our students are on their way to reaching those goals. This week we had three learners reach their goals! Charlotte can round numbers to any place value up to a million, Imogen can fluently and accurately subtract numbers up to a million using the standard algorithm, and Kellom just finished reading the entire Wings of Fire series. Stay tuned, because we'll be sure to share more student success stories with you as goals are reached. #wearewestada

Each day our students are given the opportunity to earn "Flying High" tickets by displaying our Learner Dispositions and by modeling the Frontier Way and Mission Statement. Those tickets are entered into a drawing and then a few are selected to eat lunch at a special table in the lunchroom at the end of each month. We are proud of the hard work our students display day in and day out!

The Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a federally assisted program that puts fresh fruits and vegetables in the hands of elementary students across the nation, and Frontier is lucky enough to be a part of the program. Our students will receive a fresh fruit or vegetable twice a week with the hopes that they are introduced to produce that they otherwise might not have the opportunity to sample. On Thursday, our students were introduced to rambutan, which is native to Malyaysia. The name comes from the Indonesian word "rambut", which means "hair". We can't wait to see what other new and interesting fruits and vegetables are students get to sample in the future.
