We want to recognize Frontier’s incredible School Resource Officer, Detective Mika from the Boise Police Department. His dedication to keeping Frontier’s students safe does not go unnoticed. He is always willing to help when called and consistently treats Frontier like a priority.

We are grateful for the care, time, and commitment he shows to our school community each and every day. Thank you, Detective Mika, for all that you do! 💙

Check out WestAda’s latest podcast featuring Frontier’s very own school counselor, Sara Jo Buffington! She shares insight into how schools support students during moments of crisis — and, just as importantly, the proactive work happening every day to help prevent those moments in the first place. We’re so grateful for the care, expertise, and heart she brings to our students and staff. 💙🎧

Last week our third graders had the amazing opportunity to visit the Boise Philharmonic! Our students experienced the power of live music, learned about different instruments, and saw how musicians work together to create something beautiful.

We are so thankful for opportunities like this that bring learning to life and expose our students to the arts in such a meaningful way. What a memorable experience for our young learners! 🎻✨

It’s National School Counselor Week and we are so lucky to celebrate the best — Mrs. Buffington! 💙

We may be a little biased, but she is truly amazing at what she does. She is a constant source of support, kindness, and guidance for both our students and staff.

Elementary school counselors do so much more than people realize. Mrs. Buffington helps students build friendship skills, learn how to manage big emotions, solve conflicts, and grow in confidence. She supports students during tough times, checks in on their well-being, teaches lessons in classrooms, and helps make our school a safe and caring place for everyone.

Our Falcons are better because of her, and we are so grateful for the heart she brings to our school every single day. 💛

Thank you, Mrs. Buffington, for everything you do!

🎉🥽 Big News for Frontier Students! 🥽🎉

Thanks to a generous grant from the Idaho Lottery, Mrs. Knam has secured 25 virtual reality headsets for our school! 🙌

This incredible technology will bring learning to life in a whole new way. Instead of just reading about places and events, our students will be able to experience them through virtual field trips right from the classroom. 🌍✨

Imagine:
📍 4th graders traveling the Oregon Trail
📍 5th graders standing at the site of the Gettysburg Address
📍 Classes exploring landmarks, ecosystems, and historical moments connected to what they’re learning

We are so excited to give our students immersive, engaging experiences that deepen understanding and spark curiosity.

A huge thank you to the Idaho Lottery and to Mrs. Knam for helping make this opportunity possible for our Falcons! 🦅💙

Each week Mrs. Stewart's second graders participate in a different STEM activity. In recent weeks they have been challenged to build free-standing towers using only pipe cleaners and straws. Additionally, they had to rescue hippos because the floor was lava. We love seeing this creativity and engineering skills in our students at Frontier.

The Falcons were busy the week before Thanksgiving break! 🦃✨

In Kindergarten, Mrs. Tamura’s class practiced spelling short vowel words with a fun and active “Write the Room” activity. 📝💡

In 1st grade, Mrs. Medley’s students became inventors—designing umbrellas that wouldn’t blow away by studying how plants use their external parts to survive and thrive. ☔🌱

Our 3rd graders in Mrs. LaMay’s and Mrs. Leishman’s classes enjoyed a full STEM day packed with hands-on learning. They even engineered their own Thanksgiving Day balloons inspired by the Macy’s parade! 🎈🧪

So much creativity and curiosity at Frontier! 💙🤍

Our 4th graders had an awesome time at the Idaho State Museum last week!

They learned about Idaho’s five tribes, including their origin stories and the resources they used to create clothing, tools, and shelter. After the guided tour and hands-on activity, students had time to explore the museum on their own.

A definite fan favorite? The two-headed calf exhibit! 🐮

🐰 Did you know? The Idaho Humane Society partners with classroom teachers through their Rabbit and Rodent Rescue program, allowing students to foster small animals and learn about responsible pet care.

Mrs. Dutcher’s class had the joy of fostering Buffy the bunny during October — and it’s safe to say her students (and the staff!) quickly fell in love. 💕

Buffy is now back at the Idaho Humane Society and looking for her forever home!

🎃👻 Frontier’s Annual Halloween Parade & Party! 👻🎃

Get ready for some spooky fun! On Friday, October 31st, Frontier will be hosting our Annual Halloween Parade and Party, and we’d love for our parents and families to join the fun! Come celebrate with your children and enjoy the parade beginning at approximately 3:05 PM.

Parents are encouraged to dress up and participate alongside their kids — we can’t wait to see all the creative costumes!

🧡 Costume Guidelines:

  • Costumes should come to school in a bag and students should be able to put them on independently.

  • No masks, face paint, hair dye, or weapons are allowed.

  • Costumes are available at school for students who do not have one.

🎯 For students who prefer not to join in the Halloween-themed activities, recess games and a fall-themed classroom will be available.

We can’t wait to celebrate a safe, fun, and festive Halloween together! 🎃✨
