Congratulations to our Certified Employee of the Year, Amee Emslie (Special Education) and our Classified Employee of the Year, Jennifer Merritt (Paraprofessional). Lake Hazel Middle School is very lucky to have both of these ladies as part of our staff.

Staff Of The Week: Ingrid Fox is always available to help when I need to bounce ideas off of someone. I appreciate her helping me all year, though especially thankful for her help this quarter! In addition, Ms. Fox is spoken of highly by parents, who appreciate her commitment to making her classes both engaging and rigorous. The LHMS Staff is better because of Ms. Fox!

Staff Of The Week: EVERYTHING. Nurse Schmidt does everything. She supports the health and welfare of our entire community and works tirelessly to put supports in place for those most in need of it. She is amazing at not only handling the run-of-the-mill illnesses but responding to emergencies as well. Nurse Schmidt's positive presence is oftentimes the best part of my day.

Staff Of The Week: Thank you, Jennell Lehnhoff, for always having a positive attitude. Your smile and kind heart add positivity to even the longest days! Your help to integrate 6th grade math vocabulary and expectations for tables and graphs in my recent science project was much appreciated. LHMS is a better place because of you!

Happy National School Counseling Week! LHMS appreciates everything Mrs. Demill, Ms. Schmidt, Mrs. van Santen, and Ms. Minogue do for our students and staff. We are better because of you!

Staff Of The Week: Beki Call always has such a great attitude and a big smile on her face when she is in the office. It makes everyone else smile. She has been an amazing addition to the LHMS Staff and our PE team! The students really enjoy her energy and commitment to them. We are so happy to have Mrs. Call here at LHMS!

Calling all 6th and 7th grade writers. Join Creative Writing Club! See Miss Fox for details.

8th Grade Basketball is back at LHMS. Come support our Cherokees Monday, February 5th. Tip-Off at 4:00.

Staff Of The Week: Camron Wells has done a fantastic job with the 5-year planners and has led this updated project with intentionality and grace. We are lucky to have such a calm and thoughtful presence for our 8th graders. Thank you, Mr. Wells, for being an amazing part of the LHMS Staff!

Staff Of The Week: Not only does Mr. Brings put in countless hours to create a meaningful and engaging music program at LHMS, he also helps others incorporate music across content areas. Robert, thank you for your helpful support for incorporating music into a science lesson!

Staff of the Week: Our LHMS Counselors have been extra busy lately. Britney, Cara, Laura, and Madeline support our students throughout all of the holiday emotions (good and bad), help parents and students navigate stress at the end of the semester (as the reality of grades hits many), and create new schedules (and a thousand requests for adjustments) for the new semester. As an added twist this Tuesday, they need to quickly re-sort some overlapping classes, no small feat in a short period of time. Thank you for everything you do!

Due to the current level of snow throughout the valley and the predicted continuation of snow, our schools will be experiencing a snow day today, Wednesday, January 10, 2024. School has been canceled and no classes will take place

Thank you to our law enforcement and SROs for keeping us safe. LHMS appreciates you!

Staff Of The Week: Penny Bryant has been a great addition to the LHMS Staff this year. Her experience in the special education field is invaluable. Penny is adept at determining the needs of her students and making sure they are receiving adequate support. Her positive attitude and (seemingly) tireless dedication positively impact those around her (students and staff). We are thrilled to have her here at LHMS!

Staff Of The Week: Marie Martin is always willing to cover classes when we need some extra help. She is such a friend to everyone and is a big part of the reason why our school feels like such a community. Mrs. Martin is enthusiastic and truly cares about her students! Thank you for your passion for your job and your students, Mrs. Martin!

Staff of the Week: Aaron Dahl deserves the honor of Staff of the Week for his leadership last week, as other admin were out of the building. Mr. Dahl stepped in to help individuals around the school with positivity, calm, and commitment.
In addition, Mr. Dahl has received shout-outs numerous times for his contributions to LHMS Staff and students:
The back of the school is so clean. There has always been a trash tornado out in the courtyard. Thanks for fighting the good fight to help our kids show pride for our school.
Mr. Dahl is efficient, helpful, innovative, collaborative and also really fun! The fun part is my favorite part because our jobs are hard and it makes the days so much easier. So glad you are here, Mr. Dahl!

Staff Of The Week: Laura Minogue is one of the most caring counselors I have ever worked with. She takes her time to make an honest connection with students. She is so genuine and caring people just gravitate towards her. We love her energy in the office and throughout the school. We are so lucky to have her here at LHMS!

There's nothing like hope for the holidays. #GivingTuesday
