Learning is SO MUCH FUN!!!! STEM Day was a huge success and students got to learn first hand some different aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Some of the stations included geodes, marshmallow construction, snap circuits, robotics, star lab, and entomology! Students were curious and excited! Families, be sure to ask your students what their favorites were!
Huge shout out to our STEM Day team who put together the activities and stations, our volunteers who arrived with their knowledge and expertise to teach, and the extra parents who helped students through the activities. WOW what a day!

Here is a look ahead at some big events at Silver Sage this Spring! As always, make sure to check your emails to stay up to date! There will be links to sign up for our volunteer opportunities like STEM Day (Happening now!) and Field Day (later).
Additionally, each grade level has specific field trips, projects and events planned. PTO is doing an online auction, Papa Murphy's Night, and Teacher Appreciation week. Stay in the know and always email teachers or call the office to learn more!

Kindergarten students got to visit the Reptile Zoo this week! What a great experience to be with friends, get up close and personal with the animals, and learn about these amazing creatures!

Today Ms. Hill was awarded a grant from the West Ada Education Foundation! Miss Hill's dedication to Kindergarten and her creative ideas will enhance their learning for sure.
"We study push, pull, and motion in Kindergarten. With items purchased from the grant, such as race ramps, the students will be able to conduct investigations to compare the motion of objects and other hands-on activities to deepen their understanding." - Ms. Hill
Way to go, we can't wait to see this learning is action!

We are so excited to celebrate our staff members of the year! Congratulations to Mrs. Jasmine Ellington for being chosen as our Certified Staff of the Year, and Mrs. Mallory Wirz for being selected as our Classified Staff of the Year!
Mrs. Ellington is one of our Kindergarten teachers. She has such a great classroom culture for learning, getting students a great foundation for their continued growth through their schooling. She makes great connections with her students that help them thrive as classmates and learners. As a staff member, she is a resource for many and continues to develop and grow her skills as a teacher.
Mrs. Wirz is our Computer Lab teacher. She is so valuable in the technology world that we are living in to help get our students established with understanding how to use technology to right way to help them succeed in the future. Along with computer classes, she runs student groups to help students where they are at and work towards growth!
Congratulations to these awesome ladies! We love having them be a part of our Silver Sage community!

It wouldn't be Valentine's Day without some festivities in the classrooms! Students created some fun boxes to hold cards and candy. And they spread a lot of treats to show their classmates kindness and joy. Games were held in some classes with lots of laughs. No matter the class, grade, or activities students were so happy to be celebrating and spending time with their classmates!

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day the Stallion Way! Every year, we have a Kindness lunch on Valentine's Day where we dim the lights and enjoy a special lunch under the patio lights and work on using manners. PTO handed out a special treat for everyone. Lots of "Thank You's" were heard. And of course, there were lots of smiles and fun. Way to be kind Silver Sage!

It has been quite a week with our winter weather. All week we have been at the mercy of the frigid temperatures! But Thursday brought a blizzard! Students' could hear the wind whirling and were very curious what was going on. First grade stepped out to the hallway to watch from the windows the whirlwind of snow! The class was in awe of the weather!
With the weather, we have also been inside for recess A LOT! The first graders have been using their wonder to use class supplies in fun and creative ways during their recess time. Just look at their tower and the excitement of the students!

IBOB is in full swing! Today, our 4 teams held a practice competition, reflecting on all the details they could remember from the books they have been reading. They thought hard and worked together to answer some tough questions from their judge, Mrs. Jimenez. Teams were excited and nervous, but took time to learn what they need to do to be ready for their final school practice coming up soon. Great work IBOB teams, keep it up!

Look whose 100 (days) into the school year! Some students and staff had some fun today pretending to be 100, imagining what it will be like when they reach that milestone.

Calling all Stallion artists! We are looking for a design for our 2024-2025 yearbook cover! Designs should be portrait orientation and turned into teachers by Friday, January 24th.

At the end of every month, we come together for an assembly to recognize students of the month from each class, award banners from specials teachers and other staff members for classes that exhibit great work, and have a little bit of fun! This month we honored students and classes who showed their ability to WONDER (our learner power for December). We also played a little Candy Cane Chain game with students. Lastly, we had a whole school sing-a-long as we embark on our winter break. Thanks for a great first semester and we will see you all again in 2025!

1st and 2nd Graders gave a festive and fun performance for families and students on Friday afternoon! It was so much fun to hear them sing, watch them dance, and even gave us a few holiday jokes along the way! Their hard work in Music class really paid off with their spectacular performance! Thank you 1st and 2nd graders, their teachers, and Mrs. Boyd for the performance that left us smiling!

Today we celebrated togetherness as a community with our annual Holiday Luncheon. Students and staff were encouraged to dress fancy for while the big lights in the gym turned down low as we enjoyed some ambiance with new lights, a yule log, and some festive music. Students enjoyed their time with friends and some even sang along to the music. Thanks to PTO for adding a little extra treat for everyone with a little chocolate for dessert!

We are having some fun the last week before break and celebrating by having some fun dress up each day! Take a look at the days dress and be festive as we finish out the first half of the school year and end 2024! Thursday we will be having a special luncheon so students are encouraged to dress their best.

This week we had our Family Reading Night, inviting our families to join us in a reading adventure! Students and families were welcomed to go on an exploration to discover all the fun that they can get from reading. They had to read passages and make choices along the way, even choosing their own adventure trying to escalate up Idaho's tallest peak, Mount Borah. Staff were the guides to help! We had a ton of fun with our families and sharing the adventure with them all! Keep reading Stallions!
