Last week our Performing Arts Club presented Seussical the Musical: Kids—and what a show it was! It was fun, silly, and full of energy from start to finish. Our students have been working hard all year, and it truly showed on stage.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Allen for directing and making it all happen. We also want to give a special shoutout to Mrs. Kaldenberg, Mr. Rose, Mrs. Buffington, and the Dougal family for all of their behind-the-scenes support.

We’re so grateful to PTO for their continued support, and to Lowell Scott Middle School and Sawtooth Middle School for their help with set design and props.

And of course, thank you to our amazing students for their dedication, effort, and talent—you made us proud

Today our 4th graders had a fantastic hands-on learning experience with “Bread in a Bag,” a program sponsored by the Idaho Wheat Commission! 🌾🍞

This engaging activity is designed and funded by Idaho’s wheat-growing families and gives students a chance to see firsthand how wheat becomes one of the foods we enjoy every day. As part of our Idaho History curriculum, students are learning about the important industries that help shape our state—and wheat farming is a big one!

Did you know that Idaho exports about 50% of the wheat it produces to foreign markets each year? In 2023, those exports were valued at $309 million, ranking Idaho 6th among U.S. states. Idaho is also a major producer of soft white wheat, with 2025 production estimated at 106.6 million bushels. 🌾

Our students had a great time measuring, mixing, and kneading their ingredients right in a bag—then enjoying the delicious results! 😋

A big thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who helped throughout the entire process. Your support made this fun (and yummy!) learning experience possible!

Students had fun reading at the “beach,” by flashlight, in their pajamas, and with their reading buddies. It was a great week filled with imagination, laughter, and lots of great stories! 🌊🔦🛏️📖

Last week in PE, our students had a special opportunity to learn golf fundamentals from PGA Assistant Pro Peter Burton of Lakeview Golf Course! ⛳

Students worked on grip, stance, and swing basics while learning about focus, patience, and sportsmanship on the course. It was a fun, hands-on experience and a great way to introduce a lifelong sport.

Thank you, Peter, for sharing your time and expertise with our students!

Before heading into the weekend, our students enjoyed a fantastic performance from the 2026 Idaho Theater for Youth! 🎭

They presented Keeper of the Wood, a fun folktale adventure about two siblings, Aleks and Nadia, who wander too far into the forest while searching for a special ingredient. Along the way, they encounter Baba Yaga and must complete three magical trials to find their way home. Through teamwork, bravery, and creative thinking, they discover that working together makes even the toughest challenges possible.

A huge thank you to our PTO for funding this wonderful experience for our students! 💛

Check out WestAda’s latest podcast featuring Frontier’s very own school counselor, Sara Jo Buffington! She shares insight into how schools support students during moments of crisis — and, just as importantly, the proactive work happening every day to help prevent those moments in the first place. We’re so grateful for the care, expertise, and heart she brings to our students and staff. 💙🎧

Last week our third graders had the amazing opportunity to visit the Boise Philharmonic! Our students experienced the power of live music, learned about different instruments, and saw how musicians work together to create something beautiful.

We are so thankful for opportunities like this that bring learning to life and expose our students to the arts in such a meaningful way. What a memorable experience for our young learners! 🎻✨

It’s National School Counselor Week and we are so lucky to celebrate the best — Mrs. Buffington! 💙

We may be a little biased, but she is truly amazing at what she does. She is a constant source of support, kindness, and guidance for both our students and staff.

Elementary school counselors do so much more than people realize. Mrs. Buffington helps students build friendship skills, learn how to manage big emotions, solve conflicts, and grow in confidence. She supports students during tough times, checks in on their well-being, teaches lessons in classrooms, and helps make our school a safe and caring place for everyone.

Our Falcons are better because of her, and we are so grateful for the heart she brings to our school every single day. 💛

Thank you, Mrs. Buffington, for everything you do!

🎉🥽 Big News for Frontier Students! 🥽🎉

Thanks to a generous grant from the Idaho Lottery, Mrs. Knam has secured 25 virtual reality headsets for our school! 🙌

This incredible technology will bring learning to life in a whole new way. Instead of just reading about places and events, our students will be able to experience them through virtual field trips right from the classroom. 🌍✨

Imagine:
📍 4th graders traveling the Oregon Trail
📍 5th graders standing at the site of the Gettysburg Address
📍 Classes exploring landmarks, ecosystems, and historical moments connected to what they’re learning

We are so excited to give our students immersive, engaging experiences that deepen understanding and spark curiosity.

A huge thank you to the Idaho Lottery and to Mrs. Knam for helping make this opportunity possible for our Falcons! 🦅💙

Each week Mrs. Stewart's second graders participate in a different STEM activity. In recent weeks they have been challenged to build free-standing towers using only pipe cleaners and straws. Additionally, they had to rescue hippos because the floor was lava. We love seeing this creativity and engineering skills in our students at Frontier.
